    Seniors

By 2030, one in five Americans will be an older adult and all of the baby boomers will be older than age 65. With the aging of baby boomers’ older people are projected to outnumber children for the first time in U.S. history within a couple of decades. TLC Counseling Services strive to support our older adult clients in this stage of life with their psychological needs. We assist them with coping with aging, conflicts, relationship issues, and grieving losses etc.

    Psychotherapy for Older Adults

Participating in psychotherapy optimizes health, improves attitude, and encourages clients to discover their capacity to live more emotionally engaged lives. Specialized services are provided by therapists who have received extensive training in counseling older adults and caregivers.

Older adult clients have the opportunity to:

    • Discuss life situations with a trusted therapist
    • Gain support and self-awareness
    • Learn alternative coping strategies
    • Discover personal strengths
    • Explore loss, trauma, relationships with family and friends, decisions, grief, caregiving, or health concerns in a safe environment
    • Reduce feelings of isolation and learn new ideas and creative ways to improve quality of life.

We use individual, family and group psychotherapy to address many of the issues surrounding older adults. Some of the common problems we treat, but are not limited to, are as follows:
